Stages 4–7

Tonkreuz

Already in the year of its construction, in 1929, the Tonkreuz set groundbreaking standards in film production. Today, the historical building is a film and TV stage complex with four modern, air-conditioned sound stages. With its integrated offices and numerous function rooms (for make-up, cast, costume etc.), the building offers ideal production conditions.

Here, on the first European stage purpose-built for sound films, the first feature-length German sound movie, Melodie des Herzens with Willy Fritsch, was produced. The stages in Tonkreuz are characterized by excellent sound insulation. In the last years, countless films and series were filmed here. These include: The Ghost Writer, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Sense8 and Dark.
